A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 earthquake hit off the shores of Japan's southern Pacific island.
The Meteorological Agency reported the offshore quake Sunday struck about 370 kilometres below the sea surface. The agency said there was no danger of a tsunami, and there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Wow what a way to start a new year 2012 protests in New Yor then a Earth quake again in Japan.
